Baby boomers are the generational cohort following World War II, born between 1946 and 1964. They were named after the post-war spike in birth rates known as the baby boom, and until 2019 were the largest generational cohort in the United States (U.S.) As of 2023, baby boomers are between 59 and 77 years old.
Boomers tend to be politically conservative and have a higher rate of educational attainment than previous generations. While they lag behind younger generations in technology adoption, a large majority of boomers use the internet, and their use of social media is increasing. Employers must keep this in mind when creating policies and making personnel decisions, as the priorities of this demographic may differ from their younger counterparts.
